The audience has mixed feelings on Deepika Padukone’s Gehraiyaan. While everyone agrees that this is one of Deepika Padukone’s best performances, if not the best, the plot has received mixed reviews. Without giving anything away, Deepika Padukone’s character Alisha falls in love with her cousin’s boyfriend, Tia, in the film (Ananya Panday). Their secret love affair continues until things become quite hazy. We have dysfunctional family turmoil, mental health difficulties, and an uncontrolled desire for materialistic pleasures thrown into the mix. Some people thought the film was dark, edgy, and toxic, while others said it lacked emotional depth.
Now, in her Insta stories, Kangana Ranaut wrote, “I am also a millennial but I identify and understand this kind of romance….in the name of millennial/ new age/ urban movies don’t sell trash pls…bad movies are bad movies no amount of skin show or pornography can save it…it’s a basic fact koi gehraiyaan wali baat nahi hai.”

Many members of the audience are dissatisfied with today’s love stories. They adore what was broadcast in the 1990s. Shakun Batra, who helmed the nuanced Kapoor And Sons, is behind Gehraiyaan. Some people have disliked Gehraiyaan for various reasons. Some have even described it as gloomy. Deepika Padukone, on the other hand, has received a lot of appreciation for her subtle and powerful portrayal. Ananya Panday and Siddhant Chaturvedi also star in the film.
