Indian 2, directed by Shankar and starring Kamal Haasan, is undoubtedly one of the most awaited Indian films. It is regarded as one of the most important films in Indian cinema and is a sequel to Kamal Hassan and Shankar’s earlier classic Indian (1996). Because of the film’s high expectations, the makers are leaving no stone unturned in post-production, raising the chance that the film’s release date would be pushed back to 2024.

Previously, it was reported that the makers of Indian 2 planned to release the film during this year’s Diwali weekend, but according to recent media reports, even though the film’s team has been working almost round-the-clock on post-production, if it does not meet director Shankar’s expectations, the makers will postpone the film’s release to 2024.

Indian 2 has a lot of post-production work, so the producers don’t want to take any chances. The film has already encountered numerous issues. The project, which was announced in September 2017, went through a rough patch with multiple delays and holdups. An unfortunate accident on the sets in early 2020, which resulted in the loss of a few crew members, put the production on hold. Later, the pandemic, financial overruns, and scheduling challenges all contributed to the film’s postponement. Many assumed the film had been shelved, however Kamal Haasan confirmed it shortly before the release of his last action flick Vikram (2022) that the film will arrive in cinemas.

Indian 2 is a sequel to the 1996 film Indian, which portrayed the narrative of a freedom fighter turned vigilante, played by Haasan, who seeks to rid the system of corruption by murdering wrongdoers. Kajal Aggarwal, Bobby Simha, Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, Karthik Muthuraman, and others play significant parts in Indian 2. The film’s soundtrack is composed by Anirudh whereas the camera is operated by Ravi Varman.
