Kalyani Priyadarshan Set for Bollywood Debut Opposite Ranveer Singh in Pralay? Here’s What We Know

Industry buzz suggests that Kalyani Priyadarshan may soon make her Bollywood debut opposite Ranveer Singh in his upcoming film Pralay. According to a report by 123 Telugu, this project will also mark Ranveer’s first venture as a co-producer under his banner, Maa Kasam Films. Earlier speculation hinted that Alia Bhatt might reunite with Ranveer for a third time after their hits Gully Boy and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. However, recent updates reveal that the makers have finalized Kalyani Priyadarshan as the female lead. While no official announcement has been made yet, filmmaker Jai Mehta is said to have locked her for the role.
Pralay will be the solo directorial debut of Jai Mehta, son of acclaimed filmmaker Hansal Mehta. Jai, who assisted his father on the acclaimed series Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story, is now stepping into feature filmmaking. Pre-production is reportedly set to begin in April, with filming likely to start between July and August.
Details about the story are being closely guarded, but the film is rumored to be set in a futuristic world centered on a zombie apocalypse. The narrative explores the downfall of Mumbai, featuring AI-driven sets that create a grim atmosphere filled with decay, desolation, and abandoned spaces—elements crucial to establishing the film’s tone.
Kalyani Priyadarshan had a breakthrough year in 2025 with Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, where she played India’s first female superhero. Produced by Dulquer Salmaan, the film earned her widespread acclaim and expanded her Pan-Indian appeal.
Ranveer Singh continues to receive praise for Dhurandhar and is preparing for its sequel, set to release on March 19. If confirmed, Pralay promises to be a fresh and exciting collaboration, bringing together a new pairing in a genre rarely explored in mainstream Hindi cinema.
