As said earlier, the film is based on a South Indian movie called Arjun Reddy. We have Shahid Kapoor playing the role of Dr. Kabir Rajdheer Singh who happens to be a surgeon. His life becomes miserable when his girlfriend Preeti played by Kiara Advani is forced to marry someone else leaving him behind. Soon he takes resort in drugs and other self-destruction things. So, what really goes after that is interesting to catch in your nearby screens.
The film addresses a pertinent issue of anger management. The leading man of this film is indulged with the issues of anger. Despite being a perfect guy who is an ace surgeon and leads a decent life, he loses his girlfriend and indulges into a hell till finally, life shows its back to him. It is often not easy to make such films in B Town when we have the habit to see the leading men in B Town in chocolate look particularly when we have actors like Shahid Kapoor. The film stands on two things, the raw acting performance of the leading man and the realistic portrayal of the story on the silver screen.
The film stands on these two pillars addressing the other aspects of filmmaking to an interesting note. Talking about the performances, Shahid Kapoor has played this role with all his energy and skills and thus was able to portray the character so well over the silver screen. He has done justice to the given character. On the other side, Kiara Advani was seen with lesser screen space and seemed casual with her role of Preeti. The others like Arjan Bajwa and Adil Hussain also were good on their roles and so was Nikita Dutta and Suresh Oberoi.
Talking about the other elements like direction, music, screenplay, editing, and photography, all seemed par and helped the entertainment value to prosper for the film. The technical elements for the film also went smooth allowing the film to be a decent catch this weekend.
Kabir Singh – The Last Word
The film is not a typical Bollywood masala movie but has the highs and lows of any relationship. The film mirrors the reality which one may find in the next door giving a realistic picture of love and relationship to a great extent. Apart from a powerful story and direction, Shahid Kapoor has simply excelled in his job making a must watch film this weekend.
