The film as we know is made at the backdrop of the eighties which witnessed the rise of gangsters in Bombay. This was the time when the mills in the city were shut down and it saw the sudden rise of gang wars in the city. The film is primarily about shutting down the mills in Bombay that happened in the mid-eighties.
As per the director, John would be seen in different avatars right from the man with sporting a teeka on his forehead to a man wearing his black kurta made of polyester fabric to similar other looks. The makers have roped in top costume designer Naahid Shah for this work. The designers have left no stone unturned to give the best look to John Abraham, right from choosing the best costume to accessories and other things. The film has an interesting star cast with actors like Emraan Hashmi, Mahesh Manjeraker, Suniel Shetty, Kajal Aggarwal, and Prateik Babbar seen in different roles. The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar under the banner T-Series.
