WATCH: Salman Khan’s emotional tribute to Lata Mangeshkar

The untimely death of Lata Mangeshkar sparked a wave of mourning among her devotees. After nearly a month in the hospital, the melody queen’s condition deteriorated and she died. On February 6, Lata Mangeshkar went to be with the Lord. Even a week after her death, tributes to Lata Mangeshkar continue to flow in. She was carried in a long procession from her home, covered in tricolour. The singer was cremated with full state honours in Mumbai’s Shivaji Park. Many Bollywood celebs, including Shah Rukh Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Aamir Khan, Javed Akhtar, and others, paid their tributes to the singing legend, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Salman Khan paid an emotional homage to the iconic singer on his social media account. As a tribute to the ‘Nightingale of India,’ the superstar sung Lata ji’s renowned song ‘Lag Ja Gale.’ Salman captioned the video, “Never has been, never will be any1 like u Lataji …” Fans were quick to notice the homage and flocked to the comment area to reminisce.

With her iconic voice, Lata Mangeshkar impacted the lives of a million people. In her career, she sung over 30,000 songs, making her one of the most remembered and amazing vocalists in the country. After being diagnosed with COVID-19 and pneumonia, the singer was hospitalised to Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital on January 8. She was kept on ventilator support for a while, but when she showed indications of improvement, she was removed off of it. Unfortunately, her illness worsened, and she died.

The film industry will always be grateful for Lata Mangeshkar’s endless memories and melodies.
