Javed Sheikh’s Honorable Portrayal of Shah Rukh Khan’s Father in ‘Om Shanti Om’ Met with Controversy and Online Trolling and Criticism from Pakistanis

Javed Sheikh barely needs any introduction, afterall he happens to be a renowned Pakistani actor. However, his recent statement of expressing gratitude is causing backfire in his own nation. He in his interview talked about having an honor to have played the role of Shah Rukh Khan’s father in the Bollywood film ‘Om Shanti Om’. However, his statement received backlash from some Pakistanis who criticized him for allegedly lacking self-respect.

In the film ‘Om Shanti Om’, Javed Sheikh portrayed the father of Shah Rukh Khan’s character. The movie, directed by Farah Khan, was a commercial success and gained popularity for its nostalgic tribute to the Indian film industry. During an interview on YouTube, Javed Sheikh shared his experience of working with Shah Rukh Khan and being a part of such a well-received film. He expressed his admiration for Shah Rukh Khan’s talent and professionalism, considering it a privilege to have portrayed his on-screen father.

However, his statement stirred controversy among certain sections of Pakistani social media users. They criticized Javed Sheikh for allegedly lacking self-respect by praising and working in Indian cinema. Some individuals questioned his patriotism and accused him of prioritizing his career over national pride.

It is important to note that artists and actors often work across borders and in various film industries to explore different opportunities and showcase their talent. Javed Sheikh’s involvement in Indian cinema should be seen as a professional achievement rather than a reflection of his loyalty to his country.

Despite the negative response from some individuals, Javed Sheikh continues to be a respected figure in the Pakistani entertainment industry. He has contributed significantly to both Pakistani and international films throughout his career and has garnered praise for his versatile performances. He even shared that he took just one buck (1 INR) to appear for the said character.
