Written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj, the trailer looks promising. Dhanush’s character Suruli seem lively and full of action. The trailer also shows a glimpse of the Hollywood actor James Cosmo, who is making his debut in the Indian film industry with Jagame Thandiram. He will be seen playing a role of a London-based mafia boss.

While the initial plan is to release tine the film in May, however, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic the makers had to push the film. While the team was clear that the film is made on the big screen and OTT is not an option. It surprised everyone when the producer S Sashikanth of Y Not Studio decided to take the digital route and release the film on Netflix on June 18.

However, Dhanush is not happy with Sashikanth’s decision. They both are reportedly not on talking terms. Dhanush is so upset that has taken himself out from all sorts of promotional activities for the film. In fact, Dhanush even joined the social media campaign backed by his fans to exert pressure on Sashikanth to pull out from the direct-to-home release with Netflix.

“I am hoping for the theatrical release of Jagame Thandiram like the theatre owners, exhibitors, distributors, cinema lovers and most of all my fans. Fingers crossed (sic),” Dhanush had tweeted at the time.

Jagame Thandhiram also features Aishwarya Lekshmi, Kalaiyarasan and Joju George.
