Dunki Enters Day 8 at the Box Office: Shah Rukh Khan-Rajkumar Hirani Collaboration Achieves Rs 300 Crore Global Milestone

Shah Rukh Khan’s latest film, Dunki, saw its box office mojo take a breather on its eighth day. After a steady first week, the Rajkumar Hirani directorial dipped into single-digit territory for the first time, earning only Rs 9 crore on Thursday. This marks the film’s lowest single-day collection since its December 21 release.

However, industry experts remain optimistic, expecting a bump in ticket sales over the weekend. Trade analyst Sacnilk predicts a surge in numbers as footfall traditionally increases during Christmas holidays. This is crucial for Dunki, which, despite a strong opening of nearly Rs 30 crore, fell short of the massive first-day figures of Shah Rukh’s recent blockbusters, Pathaan and Jawan, which raked in Rs 57 crore and Rs 75 crore respectively.

Despite the dip, Dunki has managed to hold its ground with a respectable Rs 161 crore nett collection in India so far. Analysts believe the film is well on its way to crossing the Rs 200 crore mark by the end of its second weekend. This milestone, while lower than the dizzying heights of Pathaan and Jawan, would still be a commendable achievement for the Hirani-Khan pairing.

Dunki’s performance highlights the changing nature of box office expectations. While the film may not match the record-breaking openings of its predecessors, its sustained run could indicate a shift towards appreciating consistent performance over single-day spikes. Ultimately, Dunki’s fate will be decided by its overall box office trajectory, with the coming weekend playing a pivotal role in shaping its final verdict.

Red Chillies Entertainment, the production house behind the film, announced that Dunki has already surpassed the Rs 300 crore mark in gross global earnings. This impressive feat comes within just a week of its release, highlighting the immense popularity of the King of Bollywood.
