Plot

The movie is based on Rani Laxmi Bai’s life and her struggle to save Jhansi from the British. She waved a war against the mighty British East India Company, during India’s first Rebellion war of 1857. So, how does she sacrificed her life to save her city from the enemy is worth catching in the nearby theatres.

Review

The film is a biopic, and the story is simply flawless having all the drama elements that make a queen the warrior of Jhansi. Her story has been so nicely told over the silver screen that talks a lot about the film’s execution and direction. Also, the star cast chosen for the film has been done with care and perfection as we can see everyone justifying the roles they have been awarded with. In terms of script and story, the film is simply flawless. It is not easy to make historical films and showcase the same elements of 160 years so realistic, but in many ways, Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi and his team have been successful in presenting the movie with the same intensity as it was expected.

Now, talking about the performances, the curly hair actress of B Town often known for her beauty quotient has simply nailed it playing the queen of Jhansi. She was simply awesome slashing sword at the head of the enemy. Interestingly, Kangana is also the director of the film though with limited roles, but her direction on herself has gone brilliantly. The film is known to have an interesting star cast with Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Jishu Sengupta, Danny Denzongappa, Atul Kulkarni and Ankita Lokhande to name a few. They have simply played the best roles of their careers. Music too was impressive, thanks to the trio music composer – Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and needless to say that the lyrics by Prasoon Joshi were simply awesome. The other elements of the film like the screenplay, editing and other elements too have played a decent role in it.

Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi The Last word

The film cherishes the fact how an army led by a woman has made her city a crematorium. With stellar performances, excellent storytelling and photography, the film becomes a worthy watch this Republic Day eve. The film is fit to catch as it has many more things to teach the coming generation of our country.
