As Sara Ali Khan featuring film Kedarnath hits the screens today to mark her debut in Bollywood. The much-awaited film is releasing all across the country except in few districts of Uttrakhand. Thanks to the controversies surrounding the movie as posed by some fringe groups. They are trying to exploit the issue for their own vested interest in the name of religion. There were groups and people who had filed a complaint against the film asking a ban on the movie in the state. The District Magistrates of both states like Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar have imposed an official ban on screening the movie in these districts.
Considering it to be a sensitive matter and it can hamper the law and order situation in the districts, the ban was imposed by the two in the state. However, the film is not banned by the state government. The ban was imposed by the DMs of the said districts in Uttrakhand was imposed on the screening just to maintain the peace and order in the said places. Earlier, the High Court at the State while hearing the plea to ban the film in the state was seen rejecting the PIL. Both the CM of the state and the Tourism Minister had their meeting with the people who raised objection against the movie. However, the CM while heading the meeting rejected the idea of banning the film.
On the other side, we have the two district magistrates who took the decision to ban the screening in the sake of maintaining peace in their respective places. They had a meeting, which was attended by the DGP along with other officials who came into the conclusion that the film has to banned to maintain the peace in the areas. We know the film Kedarnath is a love story of a Muslim boy and Hindu girl played by Sushant Singh Rajput and Sara Ali Khan respectively. It is made at the backdrop of the floods taking place in 2013 in the state. The people in the area have objected that the story has insulted the sentiments of the Hindu community by promoting Love Jihad.
