Indira Tiwari is a film and theatre actress who hails from Bhopal. She was born on December 30, 1992, in Bhopal and was raised in this place. She completed her schooling and college from Bhopal doing her graduation in Humanities from Barkatullah University. She went on to complete her Master’s in acting from India’s prestigious National School of Drama (NSD) and completed it in 2018. The first time she appeared in a film was in 2011 in the Prakash Jha production’s film Aarakshan.
She played the student role in it. While she continued working in theatres and has remained a part of many plays. Now, she is going to be seen with actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui in a Netflix-based film called Serious Men, which is a film based on a PEN Open Book Award-winning novel of the same title by author Manu Joseph. She was also part of the Hindi film called Nazarband by Suman Mukhopadhyay.
She has even worked with a few documentaries including the popular 2017 social commentary made on the issue of colorism and casteism in India called “Unfair”. With her dark skin and curly hair, she was called a refreshing face in the industry thus challenging the Indian film conventional look in a big way, which is dominated by fair-skinned, straight-haired women as leading ladies.
