Indian Railways Applauds ‘Laapataa Ladies’ on Oscars 2025 Selection: ‘Proud to Be

Laapataa Ladies has been selected as India’s official entry for the Best International Feature Film category at the Oscars 2025 by the Film Federation of India. Following this historic achievement, congratulations poured in from all corners, including a heartfelt tribute from Indian Railways, which plays a significant role in the film’s storyline, especially during the climax. The narrative revolves around two brides who are accidentally swapped on a train journey in 2001, leading to a series of unexpected events.

Indian Railways took to X to celebrate the news, sharing a poster featuring Nitanshi Giel as Phool. The Railway Ministry’s touching caption read: “O sajni re… Bahut bahut badhai! Indian Railways is proud to be a part of such a wholesome movie.” The poster also conveyed a sweet message: “Connecting Hearts Forever. Congratulating Team Laapataa Ladies.”In response to the post, one user remarked, “Indian movies are incomplete without Indian Railways.”

 

Another added, “Congratulations to the entire team of Laapataa Ladies on this incredible achievement! Indian Railways’ contribution truly enhances the essence of this beautiful film. Wishing you all the best.” A third user noted, “It’s interesting how the director mentioned in an interview that they struggled to find a shabby-looking railway station, as the government has transformed every station in the country.”
