Varun Dhawan to team up with Atlee Kumar for a masala action entertainer?
Varun Dhawan has completed over a decade in the Hindi film industry and he has worked in films of different genres but the actor has yet to be part of an out and out action-packed masala entertainer. His fans are also looking forward to seeing him in an action avatar. And it appears like his fan’s wish is about to come true. According to recent media reports, Varun will shortly begin work on a big-budget action masala entertainer.
According to Pinkvilla, Varun has been in talks with popular filmmaker Atlee for a while now and they have finally decided to work together for an action packed mass entertainer, and the film is set to go on floors by August this year. “Varun has been in talks with Atlee and Murad Khetani for a feature film for a while now and the actor is all set to commence shooting for the same by Early August. It’s a proper commercial entertainer and at present in the pre-production stage. The team is coming together to create a big-scale action experience for the audience,” revealed a source close to the development.
The report further suggests that the film will be shot over a span of four to five months and makers are planning for a major summer 2024 release across the world.

According to some media reports, the film is a remake of Atlee’s superhit action drama Theri (2016) starring Thalapathy Vijay. As a moviegoer, I hope that’s not the case and that the makers are working on an original tale for this film, because Theri’s Hindi dubbed version has been available on YouTube for free for the past 4-5 years.
Meanwhile, Varun Dhawan was most recently seen in the horror-comedy Bhediya. Despite favourable reviews, the film performed poorly at the box office. Varun will be next seen in Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Bawaal’ where he will be seen sharing screen space with Janhvi Kapoor. The film is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on 6 October 2023. On the other hand, Atlee Kumar is set to make his Bollywood directorial debut with ‘Jawaan’ starring Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi. The film is set to release on 7 September 2023.
