Indian government decided to air Amitabh Bachchan-Dharmendra’s film on TV during a solar eclipse once. Know Why?

The Indian government has had a link with Bollywood for the decades older solar eclipse. The last solar eclipse of this year falls on the next day of Diwali i.e. today. People are very excited to see this solar eclipse from 4:22 to 5:42. They are all set to enjoy the view with glasses and other techniques. Also, to get more information about it. However, this was not always the case. The technology had not advanced those days, experts used to forbid viewing the solar eclipse with the naked eye because its rays are extremely harmful.

Despite knowing this, people used to step out of their houses during the solar eclipse. That’s why 44 years ago the Indian government adopted a unique method to prevent people from stepping out of their houses & seeing the solar eclipse.

It was during the solar eclipse that occurred on February 16, 1980. The Indian government feared that people would come out of their homes without any safety measures and they would have to face the ill effects of the harmful rays of the sun. That’s why the government took the help of the film industry to keep people imprisoned in their homes. The government decided to air Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra’s Film ‘Chupke Chupke’ on Doordarshan.

Let us tell you, channels used to telecast movies on TV only on Sundays. That’s why people used to have a different craze about films. In such a situation, when the government decided to broadcast Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra’s film on Saturday due to the solar eclipse, the public was overjoyed.

For the unversed, ‘Chupke-Chupke’ starring Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra was a comedy film. Released in the year 1978, the film was directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee. Apart from Dharmendra and Amitabh Bachchan, Sharmila Tagore and Jaya Bachchan were in the lead roles. Dharmendra played the role of Driver Pyare Mohan and Professor Parimal Tripathi in this film.
