Indian 2 Box Office Collection Day 1: Kamal Haasan’s Film Grosses ₹26 Crore
Kamal Haasan’s highly anticipated film Indian 2 made its theatrical debut on Friday, and according to Sacnilk, it collected an impressive ₹26 crore net at the Indian box office on its opening day across all languages. The report from Sacnilk revealed that the Tamil version of the film contributed the most to the box office collections, earning over ₹17 crore, while the Hindi and Telugu versions brought in ₹1.1 crore and ₹7.9 crore, respectively. Indian 2 serves as the sequel to the 1996 film Indian, directed by Shankar, where Kamal Haasan reprises his role as Senapathy.
The film faced tough competition at the box office from Sudha Kongara’s Sarfira, a remake of her National Award-winning Tamil film Soorarai Pottru, which stars Akshay Kumar, Radhika Madan, Paresh Rawal, and Seema Biswas. Indian 2, produced by Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies, also features Siddharth, S J Suryah, Bobby Simha, Gulshan Grover, and the late Nedumudi Venu.
The film released in Tamil, Hindi, and Telugu languages.On the day of the film’s release, veteran actor Kamal Haasan spoke to NDTV’s Sam Daniel about Indian 2, expressing his satisfaction with the movie. He said, “We have made up for everything we lacked in the first part and more. Whether it’s the budget, the technicians, the technicality, or the gadgets.” When asked about his transformation in the film, Kamal Haasan described it as a “gratifying” experience and added, “By now, I’m used to it. The only thing that matters is the result. If it’s gratifying, then all the pain is worth it.”
Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2 had an impressive start at the box office, grossing around ₹26 crore net on its first day. The film’s Tamil version contributed the most to the collections, followed by the Hindi and Telugu versions. With a strong ensemble cast and positive reviews, Indian 2 is expected to continue its successful run in cinemas.
