Wiki – Imtiyaz Ali is an Indian film director, writer and actor. He is born in Jamshedpur but has an origin of Bihar. Hailing from Darbanga Bihar, he comes from a Muslim family, while was brought up cities like Patna and Jamshedpur. His father was into government jobs, which gave him the chance to stay in the rural areas as well giving the innards of this country India. He did his schooling from St Michael High School Patna and DBMS English School in Jamshedpur; however, he headed to Delhi for his further studies. Also, his family run three Cinema theatres called Karim Mansion an old building that carried different movies. Though he was not allowed to visit there yet he used to manage to enter the theatre watching films and even changing reels. He was good in studies and in sports.
Bio – During his college days in Delhi he got the chance to get associated with the theatre and participated in different plays. He later stared his own dramatic society in Hindu College called Ibtida and finally shifted to Bombay to do his diploma in journalism and media from Xaviers Institute of Communication. He then struggled a bit to find his first direction in a TV program called Kurukshetra that aired over Zee TV, while a similar show called Imtehan in Star Plus. He then moved to Bollywood films, wherein he finally got the chance to direct the movie Socha Na Tha starring Abay Deol and Ayesha Takia, which was average in terms of performance over Box Office. However, he still was recognised for his good work.
He then got his next movie, Jab We Met in 2007 starring Shahid Kapoor and Kareen Kapoor that turned out a big hit giving him recognition in the film world. His next movie was Love Aaj Kal with Saif Ali Khan and Deepika, which made him an established director. His next big hit was Rockstar, which he made with Ranbir Kapoor that turned out a big blockbuster hit giving him positive reviews and awards as well. He then went ahead to form his production company called Window Seat Films and his first movie as a producer include Highway (2014) starring Alia Bhatt and Randeep Hooda. His next movie comes with Ranbit and Deepika, which is to be announced soon. He has carved his niche in Bollywood as a creative screen writer and effective director. As an actor, he has only worked in a movie called Black Friday, while he is married to Preety Ali.
