I&B Ministry Directs Dhurandhar Makers to Remove ‘Baloch’; Revised Version to Release in Cinemas from January 1, 2026

Dhurandhar, the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2025, has enjoyed a phenomenal run, collecting Rs. 754.50 crores in just 26 days. With strong momentum still behind it, the film is expected to continue performing well in early 2026. However, as per the Btown portal Bollywood Hungama has learned that audiences watching the Ranveer Singh-starrer in the New Year will see a revised version.
An exhibition source revealed, “Theatres nationwide received an email from the distributors on December 31, instructing them to replace the film’s DCP. The change comes after the makers muted two words and altered a dialogue following directives from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of India.”The source added, “Cinemas have been asked to download and screen the updated version starting January 1, 2026.”
An industry insider noted, “One of the words removed from the new cut is ‘Baloch.’” However, details on the other muted or changed words remain undisclosed at the time of reporting.Dhurandhar stars Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Sara Arjun. The film narrates the story of an Indian agent infiltrating Pakistan to create chaos.
Talking about the film, it is written and directed by Aditya Dhar, it is produced by Jyoti Deshpande’s Jio Studios alongside Lokesh Dhar and Aditya Dhar’s B62 Studios. The film was released on December 5, Dhurandhar had a modest start but rapidly gained traction due to exceptional word of mouth.
It collected Rs. 218 crores in its opening week and an impressive Rs. 261.50 crores in its second week, surprising the trade and industry alike.
