Huma Qureshi is an Indian actress who often is seen in different Bollywood films. She was born n the year 1986 on 28th July. She has worked in a theater actor and model before she entered in the film world. After starring in a number of theatrical productions, Huma then moved to Bombay and signed a two years contract with Hindustan Unilever wherein she did a couple of TV commercials. It was during one of the commercial shoots; Anurag Kashyap noticed her and offered her a role in her movies – Gangs of Wasseypur 1 and its sequel appearing in the very same year 2012.

As far as her early life is concerned, she is born and brought up in Delhi, while her family is into restaurant business that runs the food chain called Saleem’s. Her siblings include Naeem Quershi and Haseen Qureshi while her other bother Saqib Saleem is also an actor. She did her History Honours from Gargi College and later joined a theater group and did a couple of things like working in NGOs and doing documentary films. She soon headed to Bombay to enter into film world. In 2008, she got the roles in a movie called Junction, which was however never made, which later made her sign a two year contract with Hindustan Unilever to appear in their television commercials. Here she did a number of TV commercials even with the Bigwigs of Bollywood like SRK and Aamir Khan in ads like Nerolac, Saffola Oil, Vita Marie, Samsung Mobile. During one of her shoots she was recognized by Anurag Kashyap who gave him the role on his forthcoming movies Gangs of Wasseypur 1 and 2, which turned big time hit of 2012.
Her performance was applauded from different quarters of the film world, which even gave a couple of nominations for her character in different award functions both the debut and best actress category. She then got the lead role in the movie called Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana, which also turned a big hit. Later she got the chance to act in the movies like Ek Thi Daayan, Shorts, D Day and Desh Ishqiya. Two her announced movies include X and Highway (Marathi), which is to be reaching into the production phase soon. As far as the awards and nominations are concerned she was nominated at a couple of awards but could manage to win only three. These include BIG Star Entertainment Awards Most Entertaining Actor (Film) Debut—Female, South Africa India Film and Television Awards in the Debut Actor of the Year—Female category and Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles for the film called Shorts under the category of special mention.
