1). Kahani (2012)

The movie, which gave Vidya Balan lots of applauds in the B Town is among the top budget movies, which was actually made at the amount of 8 crore. It is among the first movie, which was made using the guerrilla technique (generally seen while making documentary movies). Kahani was able to reap a whopping 78 crore at the box office. Directed by Sujay Gosh, it saw some of the best performances from Vidya Balan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Parambrata Chatterjee.

2). Vicky Donor (2012)

This movie really changed the way people looked at Bollywood. Made on small budget at around 5 crores with debutant Ayushmaan Khurana, Yami Gautam and Annu Kapoor, the movie was able to make a whopping 65 crore collection over the box office. It dealt with the critical subject of sperm donation in a nice manner garnering huge rounds of applauds from the audience.

3). No One Killed Jessica (2011)

The movie really shook the entire country as was inspired by the murder of Jessical Lal the former model who was killed cold blooded in a Delhi’s Pub by a son of a high profile minister. It was directed by Raj Kumar Gupta and had Vidya Balan and Rani Mukherjee in the lead roles. The budget went to around 9 crores, however, the amount made through the movie was whopping 49 crore. The movie’s name was inspired by the Times headline when Manu Sharma was released without having proper evidence.

4). The lunchbox (2013)

The movie comes from a debut director called Ritesh Batra starring Irrfan Khan, Nimrat Kaur and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The movie was made with a budget of around 10 crore and was able to collect more than 20 crore at the box office and thus was declared as the hit movies over Box office. The movie was nominated at Academy Awards, and even has won other wards for the amazing performances of actors like Irrfan Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

5). Paan Singh Tomar (2010)

This is basically a biopic of Indian solider and the rebel called Paan Singh Tomar, which was directed by Tigamnshu Dhulia and the lead actor was Irrfan Khan. It was made the modest budget of 8 crore, the movie could embark with 38 crore at the box office. The others in the movie who have performed include Mahi Gill, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Vipin Sharma.

6). Peepli Live (2010)

The movie talks about the plight of Indian labor class and growing amount of sensationalism in the media. It was made at the modest amount of 10 crore. The movie has the star performers like Omkar Das, Raghubir Yadav, Manikpuri, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Naseerudin Shah. This movie was even nominated for the 83rd Acadmey Awards for the Best Foreign Film Category and was able to reap around 29 crore at the box office.

7). Phas Gaye Re Obama (2010)

This is a national award movie was directed by Subhash Kapoor, which comprises of a satire comedy in it made at the modest budget of around 6 crore. However, considering the box office figure, it simply went up to around 19 crore making it a super hit in the country. The film talks about the global recession and the impact it holds on different people. The lead roles in the movie include Sanjay Mishra, Rajat Kapoor, Manu Rishi Chadha, Amol Gupte and Neha Dhupia.

8). Tere Bin Laden (2010)

The movie was marked out to be the debut of Ali Zafar, which is among the first actor from Pakistan to act in the Bollywood movie. The budget of making the movie was around 6 crore, which was quirky humor in nature and really did well over the box office. 9). Pyaar Ka Punchnama (2011)

10). Khosla Ka Ghosla (2006)

The movie was directed by the debut Dibankar Banerjee, which carried the tongue in cheek comedy reolving around the life of a middle class man based in Delhi that is trapped in land mafias. You can find some of the best performances from actors like Boman Irani, Parveen Dabas, Anupam Kher, Tara Sharma and late Navin Nischol.
