It’s Sonam Kapoor’s birthday today, the fashion icon turns 36 this year. She has been part of hit Bollywood movies like ‘Raanjhanaa’, ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’, ‘Khoobsurat’, ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’, ‘Neerja’, ‘Pad Man’, ‘Veere Di Wedding’, ‘Sanju’ to name a few.

But did you know that before making her big Bollywood debut with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariyaan alongside Ranbir Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor underwent an intense physical transformation by losing 35 kilos to get in shape?

Sonam Kapoor opened up on her biggest support, who helped her in shedding weight. During an interaction, she revealed that her mom Sunita Kapoor helped her lose weight. “In all fairness, it was my mother who helped me get rid of my excess weight. The first thing she did was to keep me off the stuff I was so fond of as a teenager- chocolates, ice creams, fried foods, and sweets,” she said.

Her Trainer and Nutritionist also revealed how Sonam got the red carpet ready for her Red Carpet.

Sonam’s trainer said, “Red carpet outings involve high slit gowns and backless outfits, so we keep the leg work though. There is as much emphasis on upper body workout because one needs to have a toned back to flaunt those dresses.”

The actress’ trainer also said, “I train with her and workout on a combo trailer, which is a pilates machine and some traditional mat pilates routines in the mornings. Her evenings are dedicated to weight training and cardio. It involves interval training where she walks for a minute and then jogs. She picked up spinning when she was in Los Angeles recently and continues to do that as well…We don’t want to take any chances with her stomach as the red carpet will soon roll out. She also prefers to eat simple home-cooked food like roti, daal, sabzi.”

When Sonam Kapoor opened up on PCOS and her struggles with the same.

Earlier Sonam Kapoor revealed that when she was a teen, she was suffering from the hormonal disorder PCOS. “I have been suffering from it for several years since I was like 14 or 15 years old. It has been the bane of my existence. I have gone to several doctors, several naturopaths, dieticians, nutritionists…right now, I am in a good place”, the actress added.
