The legend of music – A R Rahman has his big day today as he turns 48. So, at the very outset, we at CineTalkers wish him a very very Happy and Prosperous Birthday. This man has come a long way, being known as A S Dilip Kumar in his earlier life, he turned Muslim to later become A R Rahman. He emerged as a successful individual composer in Maniratnam’s movie called Roja in 1992 and rest becomes history. He is not only successful in Bollywood or South Indian Movie industry but also made his mark globally getting his Oscar Awards for creating music in Daniel Boyle’s movie Slumdug Millionaire.
Besides, he also hold other prestigious awards for composing music and playback singing, which include twice the Grammy Awards, Golden Globe and BAFTA award once, while four time the National Film Awards and let’s not forget the 15 times Filmfare Awards and 13 times Filmfare Awards for South. In his career of two decades, he has given some of the best music for not just Bollywood or South Indian movies but also a number of global projects all across the west and Europe.
He was even awarded the most prestigious awards in India called Padma Bhushan in the year 2010, while in UK he was judged as Tommorrow’s World Music Icon and last but not the least, the Time Magazine has given him space in the list of most influential people in the world. Interestingly, A R Rahman is always known to share his birthday with his son, which makes this day very much special for him and his family.
