The Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer film Gully Boy seemed to make headlines these days. First for being nominated in the Oscars and later getting out in its race. The film is directed by Zoya Akhtar and it is based on the life of a rapped called Naved Shaikh called more often as Naezy and Divine originally called Vivian Fernandes.
Although one can find a huge amount of stylistic and narrative likeness with the other film “Straight Outta Comption” as Hollywood biopic, when compared to Gully Boy. But the character of Ranveer Singh in the film seemed more trending. He used the rap thing to express his views and ideas as a tool of communication in the downtrodden society of Dharavi, which is the biggest slums in Asia. The film has been a huge hit in 2019 and has bagged different awards. The film had got its official entry to the Oscars in the category of Best Foreign Language however, it failed to get into the final list.
