Remember the old lady in Big B and Ayushmann Khurana starrer film – Gulabo Sitabo, yes the veteran actor Farrukh Jaffar. She passed away at the age of 89 this Friday in Lucknow. It was her elder daughter Mehru Jaffar who confirmed the news and informed that she has been unwell for sometime. She was later admitted to Sahara Hospital. She was facing the issue of breathlessness when she was admitted on 4th October. Her lungs have remained unstable and were not able to pump oxygen.
Apart from her daughter Mehru confirming the news, her grandson Shaaz Ahmaz also shared the same news by tweeting about the same. He informed that her grandmother is no more who has been the wife of freedom fighter and former MLC Mr. S M Jaffar. She passed away at 7 pm in Lucknow, claimed the Tweet. The veteran actress has been known for her character in the above said movie apart from the Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma starrer film Sultan.
She remained the first radio announcer of Vividh Bharti Lucknow in 1963, and started her career in acting in 1981 with the classic film Umrao Jaan where she played the role of Rekha’s mother. Later, she even appeared in a couple of movies and TV shows and later found fame with the SRK -starrer Swades released. She also appeared in Aamir Khan-backed film Peepli Live playing the bidi-smoking cantankerous mother-in-law. She was also in the Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s starrer film Photograph playing his grandmother.
