Good Newwz Vs. Dabangg 3 at Box Office, has Akshay Kumar’s Stole The Christmas Business?
With Akshay Kumar starrer film Good Newwz hitting the screen on 27th December close to Christmas, the movie’s collection come closer to the 100 Crore Club. This will be Akki’s fourth back to back to hit of 2019, which include Kesari, Mission Mangal and Housefull 4 and now Good Newwz. In fact, his Diwali film has entered the 200-crore-club. He was smart enough to get his last film of 2019 to release close to Christmas just after Dabangg 3.
By releasing Good Newwz just after Dabangg 3 on 27th December, the makers played smart to get the collections on Christmas and New Year holidays that tend to remain high these days. Back to back films have always helped the makers to get a good collection as we have seen in in the case of Ek Tha Tiger in 2012 for Anurag Kashyap’s Gangs Of Wasseypur 2 getting a high collection. Similarly, the films of Salman Khan including Sultan on Eid and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo too have helped the others.
Now, comparing the Dabangg 3 and Good Newwz box office collection, we can see the former getting affected on the second weekend. The fact of the matter is Salman Khan who was eyeing the entire Christmas and New Year holiday business, but with Good Newwz, it seemed that the cop drama has failed to gain the collection Salman Khan and the makers of the film were eyeing since for long. They lost a number of screen counts as well along with the money as well at the box office. Dabangg 3 could only ag 15.70 Crores, while it had the chance to bag 28-30 crores.
