Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani starrer film Good News has grossed over 64 crores in the first weekend of its release at the box office.
Directed by Raj Mehta, the film has collected Rs 64 crore 99 lakh in three days at the domestic box office. The film received a collection of Rs 25 crore 65 lakh on this Sunday. The film took an opening of Rs 17 crore 56 lakh. This is Akshay Kumar’s third biggest opening weekend of the year.
Mission Mangal collected Rs 97 crore 56 lakh and Kesari collected 78 crore 7 lakh. Housefull 4 had grossed 53 crore 22. Produced by Karan Johar and Akshay Kumar, the film took about 75 crores to produce and has been released in 3800 (700 abroad) screens.
Good News is the story of Varun Batra (Akshay Kumar) and his wife Shruti Batra (Kareena Kapoor). One day both decide that they should become parents. But nothing happens and this is why they adopt IVF technique, in which an embryo is made by mixing in the ovum laboratory of the male and the womb.
The same technique is adopted by Chandigarh’s Honey Batra (Diljit Dosanjh) and his wife Monika. The doctor of both is the one where his sperm gets replaced due to the same Batra surname.
