The makers of Golmaal 5 have officially announced the release date for the highly anticipated fifth installment of the popular comedy franchise: January 8, 2027. The announcement was made alongside a motion poster featuring the main star cast. While previous entries like Golmaal Returns, Golmaal 3, and Golmaal Again were all major Diwali blockbusters, Golmaal 5 will release without a major national festival holiday, similar to the original 2006 film.
Trade sources reveal that director Rohit Shetty and producer-actor Ajay Devgn carefully timed the January 8 release strategy, with box office performance in Gujarat playing a pivotal role in the decision.
Post-Holiday Demand and Strategic Scheduling
By releasing on January 8, the team aims to capitalize on a fresh wave of moviegoers after the major December holiday releases, such as King and Avengers: Doomsday, finish their main theatrical runs.
Additionally, releasing on January 8 provides the film with an uninterrupted two-week window at the box office before Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War arrives in theaters on January 21.
The Makar Sankranti Boost and Gujarat Box Office Connection
A core driver of the strategy is the festival of Makar Sankranti in Gujarat. The state observes major public holidays on January 14 and 15, creating an extended weekend during the film’s second week in theaters.
