Geetanjali Thapa is an Indian actress and model working in Bollywood. She got the National Award for Best actress for the film Liar’s Dice in 2013. She is known for her work in critically acclaimed films such as Tina ki Chaabi, I.D., Monsoon Shootout, Tigers and That Day after Everyday.

Geetanjali was born and brought up in Gangtok in Sikkim. She grew up in the state with her family before she moved to Kolkata for her higher education and graduation. In Kolkata, she was exposed to a theatre group from where she honed her acting skills. She started her career in glamour industry as a model and then went on to act in few short films. Her first acting assignment came in an English shirt film Myth in 2006. In the next year, she won the beauty pageant Miss North East 2007 held in Guwahati Assam. This paved the way for her future roles movies like Tina Ki Chaabi which was her official acting debut in 2010. This was followed by her next film I.D. which got high critical acclaim in Los Angeles Film Festival. She even won the Best Actress award for the same.

Geetanjali worked in the film Monsoon Shootout which was appreciated in Cannes Film Festival in 2013. She got recognition at the international level for her role in the film. This was followed by another short film That Day after Everyday which was directed by Anurag Kashyap. Then came her career milestone in the form of Geethu Mohandas’s movie Liar Dice in 2013. She played the leading role and won the National Award for Best Actress that year. The following year she worked with the acclaimed director Danis Tanovic in the Indian film Tigers opposite Emraan Hashmi. It got rave reviews at Toronto Film Festival.

Geetanjali is presently working in a film directed by Vikram Motwane to release in 2017. She endorses Tanishq and Loreal Paris.
