The prequel and sequel of the film Gangs of Wasseypur was known to have a good response, however, with the makers planning for its threequel has simply landed the franchise into a controversy even before it goes on the floor. The residents of Wasseypur from the district Dhanbad of Jharkhand have alleged that the makers have neglected to showcase the positive sides of the town in its two installments therefore giving the city a bad name – a hub of mafia dons and gangsters. Incidentally, Zieshan Quadri is the director and co-scriptwriter of the film who hails from the same town.
However, Quadri has claimed that the film is progressing as per its schedule, while the first two installments of the movie depicts the town till 2002 and now it will show what really happened during 2003 to 2015 in the prequel. As per the director, the script is complete and the shooting for the film is expected to hit the floor on October, while the film will hit the theaters by the end of the year. On the other side, the residents of Wasseypur are raising slogans against the film.
As per a ward councilor called Nisaar Alam simply alleged that the release of the first part has actually boosted up crime in the area since it has showcased the area as the haven of Gangsters and criminals. Even the local leader of BJP and the minority cell head of the area called Babu Faridi opined the same thin, while another resident alleged that they face issues while getting rooms for accommodation in other cities as people treat everyone from Wasseypur to be a criminal.
On the other hand, the director of the film simply rejected calling it to be a non-sense and further said that the film should be taken as a film. He claimed that the film has simply exposed the criminals and the way they work. He also rejected the idea that he is giving his place a bad name and that he is making films for his own personal gain.
