The film is directed, written and produced by one man called Sohail Khan under the his own banner called Sohail Khan Productionz, while Nishant Pitti is also the co-producer of the same. The dialogues have been jotted down by Raaj Shanndhilyaa. The film is loosely based on the 1996 American comedy movie called Happy Gilmore. The film has Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the lead role along with Arbaaz Khan and Amy Jackson in the pivotal roles. The others like Jas Arora, Seema Biswas and Nikitin Dheer are seen in the supporting roles. The others include Asif Basra, Paresh Ganatra and Alam Khan is also seen in various roles in the film. Now, let’s dig in deep to get the crux of the movie in the following paragraphs:

Review

Amidst the trend of making sports biopic, you have the man Sohail Khan who makes a sports based film with a twist. He has smartly jotted down a story keeping a man at the center with different shades right from a salesman to an assistant to a local goon who collects extortion debts from people. The film may have a couple of factual errors as it is not that simple for anyone becoming a sportsman overnight that too with sports like golf, which is often called as a rich man’s game. Yet in terms of humor and story of B Town one can digest such script to some extent. However, when it comes with ace performances from actors like Nawazuddin Siddiqui, it becomes worthy to pursue. The script gives enough opportunities to laugh a loud making the audience sticks to their chairs for long laughing and giggling too often in the movie.

In terms of performance, no one can beat Nawazuddin Siddiqui. He is simply awesome in the role of a man who is at the center playing the character of a golfer by chance. We see this man in a sports avatar the first time with humor in his tongue and smile on other faces, quirky dialogues and cool actions lead the film to draw a good buzz for it. Nawaz has been incredible in his roles, be it the man in Manjhi the Mountain Man film or in Raghav Raman 2.0, he is simply incredible and has taken all the pain to enter into the character of the film in a very skillful fashion. The others in the film like Amy Jackson who is the leading lady in it, but she has a small screen presence which she has failed to portray her skills over the silver screen as it deserves to do that.  The others like Jas Arora, Seema Biswas and Nikitin Dheer are okay and have done justice to their character but in many ways were overshadowed by Siddiqui in a big way.

Direction, Music, Screenplay and editing

The film has not much to do the direction as it has one of the best actors in B Town who leaves no stone unturned to keep things par. The direction is okay for the film both in terms of a quirky script and performances yet can be blamed to have certain factual errors in it.  Music is okay though not that par, which could have been regarded as the secondary element to make the film bigger and better. The other elements like screenplay, editing and photography seemed par as required, which somehow has helped the film to do better. The other technical elements are okay, which again contribute to some extent to the story and presentation of the film.

Freaky Ali – Last Word

The film has a quirky element having Nawazuddin Siddiqui at the center. The film though has a simple and straightforward script but the way it has helped the movie to reach to its height can make things very much different. After all it is supported by the powerful performance of the actor Siddiqui, which he himself is more than enough to carry forward the film in a right direction.

Rating – 3.5
