Tiger Shroff and Varun Dhawan to star in Karan Johar’s action film?
Karan Johar’s production house Dharma Productions announced a grand celebration after its social media handles dropped a post with a cryptic caption yesterday. The picture that was posted had an empty chair with ‘director’ written on it. The photo also had ‘Karan Johar, another era begins, stay tuned’ mentioned on it.
The post was captioned, “The chair is about to be filled 7 years later. A grand celebration awaits. Stay tuned, we’ll see you tomorrow! (sic)”, along with a caption which was hashtagged as ‘#25on25’.

Although Karan is keeping the details of the film under wraps, on the occasion of his birthday, a source told Bollywood Hungama that Karan is planning to direct an action film which will star Varun Dhawan and Tiger Shroff in the lead.
A source told the publication, “On May 25, Karan will be turning a year old, and with that he intends on embarking on a new journey of filmmaking. So far Karan’s forte in filmmaking has been family dramas and romantic stories. However, he is eager to try his hand with the action genre.”
The source added, “For 25 years now Karan has been doing a certain kind of cinema, and he is looking to experiment and change. Change is always good, and given his experience in filmmaking, it will most certainly be a cake walk for him. But yes, action is the new genre that Karan is looking at right now.”
Speaking about Karan’s decision to shift gears and change the genres he’s usually worked in, the source said that the filmmaker was looking for a change and wanted to experiment with action.
Further talking about the casting, the source continues, “Tiger Shroff has already established himself as an action star with films like Heropanti, Baaghi, and War. He has excelled in entertaining the audience with his high-octane stunts and perfect execution. So, it comes as no surprise that Karan has roped him to feature as one of the two leads in the new project. As for Varun Dhawan, he too has had his share of action films, though they were action dramas or comedies, he has proved that he has what it takes to become an action hero.”
Though currently only Tiger and Varun have been locked as the male leads of the film, Karan is busy working to lock the female leads as well. Interestingly, the source reveals that Karan has been toying with the idea of trying something new for a while now and this movie can be his new start now.
Meanwhile, Karan Johar is currently awaiting the release of his next directorial venture ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, which stars Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt in the lead. The romantic comedy is set to arrive in cinemas on 28 July 2023.
