Filmmakers & Actors to have No Digital Release Clause in their contracts

Drive Movie Review

The sudden rise of web series which are streamed on different online platforms have given reason to the filmmakers to try their luck in this new platform for their film releases as well. We have seen recently the film Drive releasing on the popular OTT platform called Netflix starring Jacqueline and Sushant Singh Rajput. Now, we also hear that the other film Lootcase starring Kunnal Khemu is also going to release on one of the popular online platforms.

The sources close to the film Drive claim that it is lead actor Sushant Singh Rajput seems to be happy with the release as it is meant only for streaming medium and not for the theatrical release. However, he also wanted the film to release in the theatres but when the makers only restricted the film to release in the Digital Platform, he was surprised to hear that and he did not react but to promote his film through his social media platforms.

Sources claim that Sushant is not happy to see his film releasing only the OTT platform and not in the theatres as he claims that he would be trolled by his fans on social media. He said its the actor who has to suffer a lot and not anyone like the makers or the producer who would have to bear the loss. Hence now as the actors realize the complications and challenges of the OTT platform, they are likely to have the clause of online and theatre release only. Similarly, the producer would also specify the same in the contract to avoid any difference between the actors and them.
