This year’s Diwali was marked by the release of Rohit Shetty’s latest film, ‘Sooryavanshi,’ starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif, on enormous screens. However, the celebrations were cut short in Punjab’s Hoshiarpur district on Saturday, when a group of farmers staged a protest against three farm rules.
The cause for their dissatisfaction was not the film in general, but rather the fact that the Housefull actor did not back their protest. Activists from the Bharti Kisan Union (Kadian) are following the union’s district president Swaram Dhga, who launched the march from a nearby Shaheed Udham Singh Park to the Swaran cinema, protesting the screening of Sooryavanshi, according to PTI. Protesters were also seen ripping the movie posters that were displayed outside the cinema houses to express their dissatisfaction.
The gang of anxious farmers stated that they would not allow any Akshay Kumar film to be screened here until the central government’s farm regulations were repealed as they forced the cinema hall authorities to suspend the screening of the film.
Farmers have been rioting against farm rules at Delhi’s borders for more than 11 months, for those who are ignorant. These farm legislation, according to farmers, will take away their ability to sell harvests and give corporations more authority. Since November last year, a group of farmers has been camping near the Delhi border, urging the government to overturn three agricultural laws: the Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, the Farmers’ (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020, and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.
Meanwhile, it was recently disclosed that the release dates for Singham 3 starring Ajay Devgn have been set. The cop drama will be released in theatres on July 4th weekend in 2023, which will excite fans.
Singham 3 starring Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty would be a patriotic film that will resonate with every Indian, according to a source close to Pinkvilla, “It’s among the most patriotic films that Rohit and Ajay are collaborating on, as it is set against the backdrop of turbulent Indo-Pak relationship. The premise has Kashmir in its backdrop, and it’s a story special to all the stakeholders. Given the plot and vibe, the makers feel, it’s best to bring the film on the big screen during the Independence Day 2023 weekend.”
