Escalating Drama: Ranveer Singh Serves Legal Notice to FWICE Over ‘Don 3’ Non-Cooperation Directive

The brewing battle between actor Ranveer Singh and the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has escalated into a legal showdown. According to a report by Hindustan Times, the actor has slapped a legal notice on the film workers’ body following its industry-wide non-cooperation directive against him over his abrupt exit from Don 3.

The notice was reportedly dispatched on Tuesday, forcing FWICE to legally defend its recent actions.

The Root of the Controversy: Farhan Akhtar’s ₹45 Crore Predicament

The friction ignited after filmmakers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani (Excel Entertainment) filed an official complaint with FWICE. The producers alleged that Ranveer walked out of Don 3 at an advanced stage, right before filming was scheduled to commence, leaving the project in jeopardy.

FWICE’s May 25 Statement: “Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani informed FWICE that they have already incurred approximately ₹45 crores towards the pre-production of the film. He expressed grave concern that the sudden withdrawal of such a leading actor… could expose the producer to severe financial losses and adversely affect the overall execution of the film.”

The Industry Blacklist and Subsequent Backpedaling

In response to the producers’ financial anxieties, FWICE President Ashoke Pandit announced a sweeping non-cooperation directive against the actor, appealing to the entire film fraternity for solidarity.

The Directive: FWICE initially instructed all its members—spanning technical crews, daily wagers, and various crafts—to refuse work on any upcoming projects featuring Ranveer Singh.

The Silent Actor: Pandit claimed the drastic step was taken after Ranveer completely ignored multiple notices sent by the federation seeking his side of the story.

Not a “Ban”: As panic spread through the industry, FWICE later backtracked on the vocabulary used in media headlines, clarifying that the directive was a “non-cooperation order” rather than an outright formal ban.

While Ranveer Singh has kept away from making statements to the media, his aggressive legal counter-move signals that he has no intention of letting the federation stall his career without a fight.
