EPIC Studios and Mukta Arts Partner for Feature Documentary on Filmmaker Subhash Ghai

EPIC Studios and Mukta Arts have officially announced a strategic partnership to produce a comprehensive, feature-length documentary chronicling the life and cinematic legacy of veteran filmmaker Subhash Ghai. To be directed by Raghav Khanna, the film is designed as an experiential journey into the 1980s and 1990s—a defining era during which Ghai heavily shaped the scale, music, and dramatic ambition of Hindi cinema. The producers intend to premiere the documentary at a prestigious international film festival before releasing it on a global streaming platform.

Moving beyond a standard personal biography, the project explores the broader structural and creative transformation of the Indian film industry. Through exclusive interviews with prominent cinematographers, music composers, and film editors, the documentary highlights how Ghai helped elevate technical execution and professional standards across the board. To bring this era to life, the production will rely on a mix of news archives, rare behind-the-scenes footage, and select dramatic recreations.

Expressing his gratitude for the project, Subhash Ghai noted that cinema has always been about emotion, music, and creating dreams that stay with people for generations. He shared that he is deeply touched to see his journey being revisited with such care and passion for a new generation of viewers.

Rahul Puri, Managing Director of Mukta Arts, emphasized that Ghai’s films did not merely entertain audiences; they actively reflected and molded the culture, spirit, and aspirations of India during that time. He added that the studio is incredibly pleased to open up its extensive archives to a fresh generation of cinema lovers through this partnership.

Director Raghav Khanna added that the film aims to be more than just a typical biography, describing it as a visual time machine tracking a generation of youth and a society in flux. He concluded by noting that he could not have asked for better creative collaborators than EPIC Studios and Mukta Arts to bring this grand cinematic history to the screen.
