Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam are joining forces for the first time in director Suparn Varma’s upcoming film HAQ, a powerful courtroom drama inspired by one of India’s most debated legal cases. According to a Pinkvilla report, the film draws inspiration from the landmark Supreme Court judgment in the Shah Bano vs Ahmed Khan case, which ignited nationwide discussions on personal laws and women’s rights.
Produced by Junglee Pictures in collaboration with Insomnia Films and Baweja Studios, HAQ promises to explore themes that are likely to spark intense public discourse. A source shared, “HAQ is inspired by the landmark Supreme Court judgment of Shah Bano vs Ahmed Khan—a case that shook the nation. While exact details are being kept under wraps, the film’s controversial theme and courtroom drama are expected to provoke meaningful conversation.”
The film’s teaser has reportedly been finalized and is expected to be released soon. An insider revealed, “The teaser of HAQ is locked, and those who have seen it cannot stop praising the content. The teaser will also officially announce the release date.”
