This is how rap artist and emcee Raja Mukherjee had a ‘I AM MUMBHAI’ moment with Javed Jaffrey

The mega cult movie Bombay boyz had a song called “I AM MUMBHAI” which ruled the charts in 1999.

Almost two decades later, Raja RME being a rap musician and a hip hop historian knew exactly when to seize the moment and the opportunity when he came across the multi-talented and the legend Javed Jaffrey.

Javed Jaffrey who was receiving an award for the most admired leader in India was praised by Raja who was hosting the event. Raja told JJ how much of a fan he was of what he did 2 decades back and requested him if he could rap verse and chorus.

A humble and a shy JJ, said let’s do it and once he did, Raja joined him on the mic in front of a packed house which had A list celebrities like Preity Zinta, Shakti Kapoor, Divya Dutta, Bhoomi Trivedi, RJ Mallishka, Mahima Chaudhary, and many more.

This impromptu performance received a standing ovation and a thunderous round of applause from the people in the room.

Talking about the same, Raja shares, “I was 8 years old when Javed Jaffrey rapped “I AM MUM-BHAI” I loved the song just like everyone else did. little did I know after 2 decades I’d make this moment a reality by performing the track on stage”.

Raja further adds, “this is definitely a moment I can cherish for a long time rapping live with an icon and an overall entertainer JJ”.
