Supreme Court Dismisses Plea to Revoke Adipurush Certification; Remarks, “Society Appears Overly Sensitive About Everything

The Supreme Court on Friday rejected a plea seeking revocation of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) certification of the film Adipurush. The film, which is based on the Hindu mythological epic Ramayana, has been facing backlash from some quarters for allegedly distorting the epic. The plea was filed by a group of people who argued that the film would hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus. They also argued that the film had not been properly certified by the CBFC and that it contained scenes that were derogatory to Hindu gods and goddesses.

However, the Supreme Court dismissed the plea, saying that it was not inclined to interfere with the CBFC’s decision to grant certification to the film. The court also said that the film had been certified with an “A” certificate, which means that it is only suitable for adults. The decision of the Supreme Court has been welcomed by the makers of the film. They have said that they are committed to making a film that is respectful of all religions. They have also said that they will not make any changes to the film in response to the backlash that it has received.

Adipurush is a historical drama film directed by Om Raut. It stars Prabhas as Lord Rama, Kriti Sanon as Sita, and Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh. The film is scheduled to be released in theaters on August 11, 2023. The film has been in the news ever since its announcement. In 2021, the makers of the film were forced to change the title from Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama to Adipurush after protests from some Hindu groups. The groups had objected to the use of the word “Ramayana” in the title, arguing that it was disrespectful to the epic.

The film has also been criticized for its casting. Some people have argued that Prabhas is not the right actor to play Lord Rama, while others have said that Kriti Sanon is not the right actress to play Sita. Despite the backlash, the makers of Adipurush have remained confident about the film. They have said that they are making a film that will be enjoyed by audiences of all faiths.
