Plot
We in societies like Indian, not all love stories are simple, and the one of Sonam Kapoor is undoubtedly not. She has been in love, and her family realises that it is all about the same-sex relationship that then sets the storm within the family. So, amidst all drama and comedy, the issue is dealt, so what really goes with it is interesting to know by catching up the film in your nearby theatre.
Review
It is often not easy to deal with taboo issues like a same-sex relationship. However, with this film – Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga, the makers were smart enough to handle this issue keeping it light and melodramatic. The first half has all the fun, and it proves too breezy having the talented actor Rajkummar Rao remaining at the helm of the affair. Most of his scenes featuring the actor turn quirky and have loads of fun. The story moves smoothly without worrying much on the moot issue of same-sex relationship. The second part, however, has the catch when the hue and cry are made with the revelation coming out that the lady is in love but not to her Muslim friend but a lady.
Now, talking about the performances, Sonam Kapoor has done an excellent in her role. She was successful in keeping her cool with her easy eyes. Anil Kapoor who worked with her real daughter as reel father for the first time nails the part. His chemistry with actors like Rajkummar Roa and Sonam Kapoor is simply great. Needless to say that Juhi Chawla too proved out to be a treat for many. And Rajkummar Rao, he is an ace actor and has the knack of doing any role with perfection and his best of the talents. The other elements like music, song and screenplay seemed good and similar was the story at the quarters like photography, editing and other technical things.
Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga – The Last word
The film has a unique story, though a taboo one but the way it is dealt over the silver screen is applauding making it light and interesting. The stellar performances of the lead actors would make your day. Yet with this subject, it has become a niche film that may not attract a huge crowd.
