The first month of Bollywood has proved out to be the excellent month of B Town movies like – Uri: The surgical strike, Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi and others. The Kangana starrer historical film did a good business at the box office. Coming month of Feb, we have some cool movies to release, which include the Anil and Sonam Kapoor starrer movie called Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa. The film is directed by Shelly Chopra Dhar and it has one of the best star cast bringing daughter and son together. This is the film based on same-sex relationship and thus remains a film with unique content and style.
There seems to be a good buzz of the film for its content, comedy, and ensemble star cast having Anil Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao and Juhi Chawla seen in the key roles. The same-sex relationship with loads of drama and comedy has created a good buzz in the media and the audience. It may have all the required elements that can make a big hit, but as the film is dealing with a taboo topic, it can only attract an audience with similar likings and interest. Thus to expect a significant figure on day one would be unfair. As per the experts, the film Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga will score around 4 to 6 crores.
The subject of the movie has a limited appeal, and now when the makers have disclosed the theme of the film, it may not attract all the audiences. The multiplex audience can catch such films but forget about this movie that would do well in single screens in small towns and cities where people still call same-sex relationship to be a taboo issue. On the other hand, the films like Manikarnika, Thackeray and Uri are still running on the screens and thus will have an impact on the occupancy of the Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga. So, to expect a significant amount in the first weekend would be rather difficult for the makers to achieve. Let’s see how things would move but at the moment, let’s wait and watch!
