According to sources close to India Today, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Tollywood stars and directors, including Rakul Preet Singh and Rana Daggubati, in connection with a four-year-old drug case.

Rakul Preet Singh, Rana Daggubati, and Ravi Teja have been summoned by the ED to appear before the agency on September 6, Rana Daggubati on September 8, and Ravi Teja on September 9. According to India Today, the celebs have been called to testify in the case. The ED’s money-laundering investigation is based on a case brought by the Department of Excise and Prohibition. In July 2017, the Hyderabad Excise And Prohibition Department’s Special Enquiry Team initiated an investigation into Tollywood celebrities and others.

The SIT then took hair and nail samples from 62 suspects, including celebrities, although no charges have been made against any of them so far. SIT has also not revealed whether any celebrities were involved in narcotics trafficking or consumption.

Rafael Alex Victor, a South African national, was also detained by SIT in August 2017 for allegedly transporting cocaine from Mumbai to Hyderabad.
