In a four-year-old narcotics case, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned 12 Tollywood actors and directors, including Rakul Preet Singh, Rana Daggubati, Ravi Teja, Puri Jagannadh, Charmme Kaur, and Mumaith Khan. On August 31, the ED called Puri Jagannadh, and on September 6, the ED summoned Rakul Preet. On September 8 and 9, Rana and Ravi Teja were summoned, respectively.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) questioned these 12 actors and directors in 2017 as part of a high-end drug ring.
According to sources close to India Today, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Tollywood stars and directors, including Rakul Preet Singh and Rana Daggubati, in connection with a four-year-old drug case.
Rakul Preet Singh, Rana Daggubati, and Ravi Teja have been summoned by the ED to appear before the agency on September 6, Rana Daggubati on September 8, and Ravi Teja on September 9. On August 31, the ED summoned Director Puri Jagannadh as well. On November 15, Mumaith Khan has been asked to appear in court. The financial investigation agency has also summoned actress Charmme Kaur.
According to India Today, the celebs have been called to testify in the case. The ED’s money-laundering investigation is based on a case brought by the Department of Excise and Prohibition. In July 2017, the Hyderabad Excise And Prohibition Department’s Special Enquiry Team initiated an investigation into Tollywood celebrities and others.
The SIT then took hair and nail samples from 62 suspects, including celebrities, although no charges have been made against any of them so far. SIT has also not revealed whether any celebrities were involved in narcotics trafficking or consumption.
Rafael Alex Victor, a South African national, was also detained by SIT in August 2017 for allegedly transporting cocaine from Mumbai to Hyderabad.
