Dwayne Johnson to make his return in the Fast & Furious film franchise?

The Fast and Furious film franchise is one of the most popular in the world. This series, which has been running for more than two decades, has become a pop-culture phenomenon over the years.

According to current media claims, Dwayne Johnson, who quit the franchise despite starring in his own spinoff Hobbs & Shaw alongside Jason Statham in 2019, said he would not return due to an alleged conflict with Vin Diesel, who is slated to return as Agent Hobbs.

According to The Wrap, Johnson will appear in a post-credit scene in Fast X, confirming his return. The news broke following the film’s premiere in Italy.

For the unversed, Vin and Dwayne had a fantastic friendship, but they fell out over an issue and got into a rivalry on the set of The Fate Of The Furious in 2016.

Previously in 2021, Vin Diesel publicly demanded Johnson’s return to the action franchise, but the actor turned down the offer, calling it “manipulation.” Diesel publicly requested Johnson to reprise his role in the forthcoming films, citing his children and the death of the late Paul Walker. “I say this out of love… but you must show up, do not leave the franchise idle, you have a very important role to play,” he stated.

Fast X is set to hit the theaters on 19 May. It remains unclear if Johnson’s appearance in the post-credits scene sets up his return in Fast & Furious 11 or if it will be a one-off. Helmed by Louis Leterrier, the film stars Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Tyrese Gibson, Jason Momoa, John Cena, Charlize Theron, Helen Mirren, Nathalie Emmanuel, Brie Larson and Rita Moreno.

Dwayne Johnson was last seen in his superhero debut film ‘Black Adam’ which turned out to be a flop at the box office.
