The Zoya Akhtar‘s film Dil Dhadakne Do was among the most expected films of 2015. The film starring a number of B Town actors like Anil Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar, Shefali Shah, etc, was seen making a grand opening at the box office. Backed with positive reviews, the film managed to get a double figure at the very first day, which seems unusual in the list of 2015 movies coming closer to the Gabbar Is Back’s collection of its first day.
The first weekend of the film witnessed a decent momentum, however, considering the whopping budget of the movie, this surge has to remain constant giving the film a good returns. As per reports, the first weekend box office collection of Dil Dhadakne Do tolled to around 37.05, which is slightly lesser than the Anand L Rai sequel – Tanu Weds Manu Returns despite the lesser number of screens as compared to DDD.
All eyes are now on the weekdays’ performance of the film. The word of mouth buzz will help in pulling crowd for the film over the multiplexes and single screens, which seems to be positive as far as checking the pre-bookings at the prime time shows in the evening especially over the multiplexes at different metro cities of India. The single screens are yet to reach such buzz in smaller towns. Perhaps Zoya and her team has failed to impress people of all the quarters since it is based on elites and their lifestyle, which may fail to pull the smaller town audience.
