Did you know? Before Chehre Amitabh Bachchan also did Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Black for free, and the reason will blow your mind

Legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan proves that he is a man of horner every time he appears on the screen. The actor has impressed us yet again in his recently released film Chehre also staring Emran Hashmi. But did you know the actor did the film for free?

Yes, your read that right. Big B not just charged zero fees for the film he also paid for his own travel when the production moved to Poland.

However, for tax reasons, producer Anand Pandit recently said that the actor was billed as a ‘friendly appearance’ in the film.

Well, very few know that Chehre is not the only film Amitabh Bachchan did for free. Years ago he did Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Black free of cost, just because he wanted to work with the director. And what a great move as he ended up winning a National Award for his acclaimed performance as a tutor to a deaf-mute girl, played by Rani Mukerji. The film is a milestone in the history of Indian cinema.

Back in 2017 on the occasion of Black’s 12th anniversary Amitabh took to his blog and wrote, “I had just wanted to work with Sanjay, after seeing all his other works he had done… And when the opportunity came it was quite overwhelming. I did not take any salary for the film… Just being a part of such an enterprise, was sufficient fees!”
He continued, “At the premiere when we all saw the film, there was just those tears of joy within me, and of course the fact of having Dilip Saheb in the audience was a child hood dream coming true. When the film got over, he stood outside the hall, held my hands and just looked into my eyes .. It was, what I could have allowed, to last for a lifetime!”

Meanwhile, directed by Rumi Jaffery, Chehre also stars Rhea Chakraborty, Annu Kapoor, Raghubir Yadav, Dhritiman Chatterjee amongst others. The film already hit the theatres and getting a positive response.
