Dhurandhar Part 1 Becomes a Rare Post-Covid Film to Complete 100 Days in Cinemas; First Film Ever to Run Until Its Sequel’s Release

The highly anticipated Dhurandhar: The Revenge is set to hit theatres on March 19, with Jio Studios organizing paid previews on March 18 from 5:00 pm onwards. Ticket sales have been historic, with shows selling out quickly across the country despite premium pricing. Meanwhile, starting March 12, Jio Studios expanded the screening of Dhurandhar Part 1 and re-released it in cinemas where it had previously stopped.
Remarkably, Dhurandhar Part 1, which premiered on December 5, 2025, has maintained continuous theatrical runs in several cinemas, marking its 99th day today and reaching the milestone 100-day mark on March 14. While blockbusters once routinely crossed this milestone, it has become increasingly rare in the post-Covid era, making Dhurandhar a standout success.
Despite dropping on Netflix about a month and a half ago—typically a point when cinema audiences decline—the film continued to attract steady viewers in select theatres, preventing its discontinuation. Its recent re-release, both domestically and globally, has allowed audiences to revisit the story ahead of the sequel’s arrival. As of March 12, Dhurandhar Part 1 is screening on over 1,000 screens worldwide with more than 1,250 shows.
Dhurandhar Part 1 will continue screening until the afternoon of March 18, after which it will make way for Dhurandhar: The Revenge. This marks the first time in history that the first part of a film has run in cinemas uninterrupted until the release of its sequel. The film has already set multiple records, and all eyes are now on how many more milestones Dhurandhar: The Revenge will achieve.
Meanwhile, the makers are now gearing up for the sequel, which is gaining good momentum in the social media, check the tweet of Taran Adarsh:
