Dhurandhar and Border 2 Join the Elite 3+ Hour Club; Border 2 Runtime Around 3 Hours 20 Minutes
Not long ago, lengthy films were often avoided for fear of losing audience interest. However, that notion was shattered in 2023 by Animal, which ran for an impressive 3 hours and 23 minutes. Following suit, Pushpa 2 (2025) clocked in at 3 hours and 20 minutes, and Dhurandhar that remains the biggest Hindi hit of 2025—pushed the envelope further with a runtime of 3 hours and 34 minutes. All three were major blockbusters, proving that audiences are embracing longer cinematic experiences.
Now, joining this prestigious club is Border 2. Bollywood Hungama has learned that the period war drama’s runtime exceeds three hours. A source revealed, “Border 2 is approximately 200 minutes long, which translates to around 3 hours and 20 minutes. The exact duration may vary slightly after final edits and will be confirmed once the film receives its censor certificate.”
The source added, “The makers felt a lengthy runtime was essential to fully portray the war and give justice to the four major actors—Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty—and their story arcs. At the same time, the film is packed with dramatic, patriotic, and mass-appeal moments designed to keep viewers engaged and evoke applause and whistles.”Border 2 is set to release on January 23, strategically timed to capitalize on the Republic Day holiday on January 26 and the extended four-day weekend.
While the original Border (1997) was directed by J P Dutta, the sequel is helmed by Anurag Singh (Kesari), with J P Dutta producing alongside Nidhi Dutta and T-Series’ Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar. As we see January is shaping up as a month of long films, with The Raja Saab running 3 hours and 9 minutes, and Jana Nayagan expected to be around 3 hours and 3 minutes long.
