It is no wonder for an Aamir Khan film to be concerned with records. This time it is about the biggest and the highest . Dhoom 3 is on fire at the box office and is breaking and making records ever since its release on 20 Dec. The film has clearly went past records created by previous films like Chennai Express and Krrish 3. Krrish 3 became the highest grosser of the year early last month. Now Dhoom 3 not only replaced it as the highest grosser of the year but is all set to register itself as the highest of all time.
The film , on Tuesday, raked in 234.77 crore in its worldwide business in only five days of its release. The figures up till now speaks for themselves :
*Fri to Tue* total of Dhoom3: India 152.46 cr + Overseas 84.11 cr [$ 13.11 mn +]. Worldwide total: 234.77 cr.”
There were speculations from the very first day of its release that the film is capable of creating new record. Trade verdicts proved it right with the film collecting no less than 36.54 crore on its first day. What followed was an enormous rush to the theaters with the weekends in houseful and advance bookings going on in multiplexes. The film had done and is continuing to attract audience in both the big and small cities alike. The metro cities have lead the list of high collectors of the film.
Dhoom 3‘s first day collection of 36 crore was a record in itself of the highest in a single day. Come Sunday and it smashed its own record with the collection of 37.89 crore. While Chennai Express had made the record of the quickest entry into the 100 crore club, it is evicted by Dhoom 3 now for the latter entered the club only within 3 days. Along with this it is also the highest of the weekend collectors with 107 crore on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It was also the highest collector on a Sunday.
Going with the overseas figures, the film did the highest business in Newzeland, where it broke the record of 3 idiots. And in the neighboring Pakistan, it received a record breaking response that is the highest for any Bollywood film ever. It was no different in Australia where it was the best weekend opening for the film till day.
