Devara Part 1 Box Office Worldwide: Jr NTR-Starrer Becomes World’s 2nd Highest Grossing Film, Surpasses Transformers

Koratala Siva’s Telugu film Devara Part 1 has made a remarkable debut at the box office, achieving significant success both in India and internationally. Starring Jr NTR and Saif Ali Khan, this action-packed film recorded one of the largest opening days in Indian cinema history and maintained its strong performance throughout the opening weekend. According to Comscore, Devara Part 1 ranks second among the highest-grossing films worldwide for the weekend.

Released in theaters on September 27, the film’s producers announced that it earned ₹172 crore globally on its opening day. Over its first weekend, Devara Part 1 grossed approximately $32.93 million (₹275 crore) worldwide, placing it just behind The Wild Robot, which made $44 million during the same period, while surpassing major Hollywood films like Beetlejuice ($29 million) and Transformers One ($25 million). It’s important to note that the latter films were not in their opening weekends, which gives Devara a distinct advantage with its grand debut.

Impressive Domestic Performance

Though exact earnings for Devara may vary among different sources due to the complexities of India’s box office tracking, its success is undeniable. The filmmakers assert that the film is on track to surpass ₹300 crore globally and ₹200 crore in India. However, trade analysts like Sacnilk and Comscore present more conservative estimates. Sacnilk reports that Devara earned ₹161 crore net in India over its opening weekend, with a notable 5% increase on Sunday, bringing in ₹40 crore in the domestic market. The true test for the film will come on Monday as the week begins, when box office collections typically experience a decline.

As the film continues to draw audiences, it has demonstrated its ability to compete with some of the biggest names in cinema, showcasing the growing influence of Indian films on the worldwide stage. With its thrilling storyline and star-studded cast, Devara Part 1 is set to maintain its momentum in the coming days.
