Delhi Govt shuts downs theatres amid COVID-19 cases surge, films like RRR & Jersey gets into trouble!

On Tuesday, the Delhi government-imposed limitations under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) to combat the spread of COVID-19 infection, forcing cinema halls, theatres, and multiplexes to close once more. To avoid the approaching third wave of the new Coronavirus in the country, more states are anticipated to follow similar precautions.

In the midst of this, the fates of two major pictures, ‘Jersey’ and ‘RRR,’ are in jeopardy. To promote their upcoming sports drama ‘Jersey,’ Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur have been on a number of television reality shows and events. It was originally intended for a theatrical release on August 28, 2020, but will now be released on December 31, 2021. The film is an authentic remake of Gowtam Tinnanuri’s Telugu film of the same name, which starred Nani and Shraddha Srinath in prominent roles.

Even stranger is the case with the pan-India film ‘RRR,’ which will be released in theatres on January 7, 2022. Since S. S. Rajamouli’s first release after the magnum-opus ‘Baahubali’ flicks, fans and audiences have been waiting with baited breath for this period-action adventure. Ram Charan, Jr. NTR, and Alia Bhatt star in the key roles, with Ajay Devgn making a cameo appearance. The film was originally set to be released in theatres on July 30, 2020, but it has already been postponed several times. In February 2020, the release date was pushed back to January 8, 2021, to coincide with the national Makar Sankranti celebration. The film’s release date was moved back to 13 October 2021 on 25 January 2021, only to be postponed again because to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The new release date for ‘RRR’ was revealed on October 2, 2021, one day before S. S. Rajamouli’s birthday on October 10th. The filmmakers want the audience to see the larger-than-life film on the big screen, so they’ve been patiently waiting for it to hit theatres across India for the past two years.

It’s best to wait for official confirmation from the studios behind ‘Jersey’ and ‘RRR’ on whether they want to stick to their current release dates or push them back.
