A versatile musician and singer Bappi Lahiri passed away at the age of 69 and breathed his last in a hospital in Mumbai. Bappi Lahiri, who started the era of disco and pop music in Bollywood, was also known for his different looks and passion for gold. Bappi Lahiri had contested the Lok Sabha elections in the year 2014 and at that time, while filing the nomination, gave details of gold and silver in addition to his total assets. During this, he told that he had a total of 752 grams of gold, which was worth (at that time) Rs 17,67,451 lakh. At present, the price of 752 grams of gold has gone up to Rs 40 lakh. Apart from this, he also used to buy gold items every year. Bappi Ji also had 4.62 kg of silver.
According to the affidavit given during the Lok Sabha Election 2014, Bappi Lahiri also had silver ornaments worth about 4.62 kg, which was (at that time) worth around Rs 2,20,000. The price of 4.62 kg silver has gone up to around Rs 2.91 lakh at present.
Bappi Ji had contested the Lok Sabha elections in 2014 from Serampore in West Bengal on a BJP ticket. During this, according to the affidavit given by the Election Commission, Bappi had total assets of Rs 12 crore. Apart from this, he had 5 cars.
Bappi Ji, fond of gold, was also very fond of cars. According to the affidavit, he had 5 luxury cars, including BMW and Audi. He had a BMW worth Rs 42 lakh, Audi worth Rs 32 lakh, Fiat worth Rs 20 lakh, Sonata worth Rs 16 lakh and Scorpio worth Rs 8 lakh.
Like Bappi Lahiri, his wife Chitrani Lahiri is also fond of gold and diamonds. According to Bappi Da’s affidavit, in the year 2014, Chitrani Lahiri had 967 grams of gold, 8.9 kg of silver and diamond jewelry worth Rs 4 lakh.
Bappi Lahiri had told in an interview that he was a big fan of American rock star Elvis Presley and Elvis used to wear a gold chain during his performance. Seeing Elvis, Bappi Da was determined that if he ever succeeded, he would make his own identity and then he started wearing chains like Elvis. After seeing this his hobby became his identity.
